| William Goldman recommends that a writer "starts late and gets out early." |
Do Now: Last class, we talked about how figurative language, imagery and careful word choice can enhance a story (or vignette). Which of the three features are you most comfortable using in your own writing? Least comfortable? Explain.
Today's Learning Target:
I will be able observe how Sandra Cisneros structures her vignettes to have beginnings, middles, and ends even when it does not seem so upon the first reading.
I will know that I have hit the learning target when...
-I can point to at least two different ways Cisneros begins and ends her vignettes.
-I can explain how the middle parts of the vignettes relate to the beginnings and endings.
- Examples of chronology
- Choosing when to start and finish ("Start late, get out early")
- Exit ticket: what part of today's lesson made the most sense to you? Why?
Homework: choose one of your events and write a rough draft
PLEASE SET UP A REMINDER TO BRING YOUR OUTSIDE READING BOOK TO CLASS DURING EVERY TRIPLE (MONDAY FOR INDIGO AND WEDNESDAY FOR GREEN)
