Day 6

 Wheels from ancient Mesopotamia

Do Now: Now that you're a little familiar with the Coming-of-Age story archetype, can you think of other archetypes that exist in literature (i.e., books and movies)?

Today's objectives:
Students will be able to...
-recognize how elements of the Coming-of-Age archetype apply to a story they know
-describe how authors use archetypes with different purposes

Agenda:
  1. Why archetypes? What do these patterns tell us about people in general?
  2. Introducing the Coming-of-Age Book Assignment
  3. Group Work
  4. Exit ticket: what is one word that best sums up the protagonist of your summer reading book?
Homework: read the outside reading list and select a book for the first quarter
