Day 4 HOMS

Do Now: Did you gain a new perspective on literary devices during yesterday's group work? Explain.

Today's Learning Target:
I will be able find clues that suggest Sandra Cisneros is alluding to (i.e., referencing) archetypes like the Coming-of-Age story and the Cinderella story.
I will know that I have hit the learning target when...
-I can find at least three examples that relate to one or both of the archetypes and explain how they connect.
-I can predict why Cisneros references the archetypes in ways that either challenge or complicate them.

Agenda:
  1. Big Questions and Assignments in this unit
  2. Reviewing the Coming-of-Age archetype and the Cinderella archetype
  3. Locating Evidence in pairs and taking notes
  4. Exit Ticket: What is one way that Esperanza complicates (i.e., doesn't perfectly fit) one of the archetypes?
Homework: Using the six habits, read and annotate pp. 31-42 (if you're assigned one of these chapters, then make note of an important line/passage). We'll have a quiz on the six habits this Friday (9/27)
PLEASE SET UP A REMINDER TO BRING YOUR OUTSIDE READING BOOK TO CLASS DURING EVERY TRIPLE (MONDAY FOR INDIGO AND WEDNESDAY FOR GREEN)
