Day 17 LOTF

Do Now: What is a prediction you have for the end of the novel? Base your prediction on events that have already occurred or hints you have noticed along the way.

Today's Learning Target:
I will be able to define irony and explain how it applies to our reading of Lord of the Flies.
I will know that I have hit the learning target when...
-I can
find an important example of irony from the novel.
-I can explain how irony relates to some of the big ideas we have discussed.

Agenda:
  1. Finishing Chapter 12
  2. Irony
  3. Film Adaptation

Homework: Answer ONE of the theme questions in three to five sentences. Your answer should reflect conclusions you have drawn from Lord of the Flies (i.e., the response is not just your personal opinion, but what Golding implies in his novel).

Theme Questions (so what):
Ø Are human beings mostly good or evil?
Ø How does fear influence human behavior?
Ø Which human behaviors are we born with, and which ones are learned?
Ø What kind of leadership keeps a society stable?
