Do Now: What is the gift for the darkness? What does the giving of such a gift remind you of?

I will be able to relate Plato's theory of the tripartite (or three part) soul to characters in the novel and explain how this idea sheds light on what is happening in the novel.

I will know that I have hit the learning target when...
-I can connect the three parts of the soul to three characters in the novel.
-I can explain how the imbalance among these three characters/parts of the soul relates to the lack of order among the boys on the island.
